When I called composer Poul Ruders in early May, he was sitting at a McDonald’s in Boston and was in the middle of breakfast. A few weeks later, we met “on the farm” in the small shack, where the great opera successes are created — for open sandwiches, »little sweet dogs and coffee without milk« — to listen to the Odense Symphony Orchestra‘s recording of his latest opera. It was a pretty terrific day, I must say.
