“A kangaroo like you” musical score premieres at Anemonen

The white tiger Pascha and the black panther Lucky dream of becoming a real family and set out on a journey to find a boyfriend for their animal trainer.

They meet the boxing kangaroo Django and find out that all the thoughts and expectations they had for the future don‘t work because things are not what they seemed to be.

This is the plot in Anemonen‘s “A kangaroo like you” written by the German author and director Ulrich Hub. It premieres this Tuesday as a co-production with the acclaimed Hils Din Mor.

I have composed the musical score and created the sound design with two people I love equally as human beings and musicians, Mathias Madsen Munch and Cecilie Sadolin.

The cats’ journey has taken us through 30’s jazz, 80’s synthpop, klezmer-influenced circus music, indie rock, cinematic scores and much more. We’ve had a lot of fun creating the music at the rehearsals with the brilliant cast. I think it shows.

It has been equally fun to record the score with the terrific musicians, Tine Vitkov (clarinets and saxophones), Tira Skamby (the wildest selection of percussion!) and Mads Kjøller Henningsen (flutes, shawm, mandolin and mouth harps).

The premiere is this Tuesday, September 6th, and it runs until October 9th 2022, after which the show will be touring Denmark from March 22nd through April 29th 2023.

All my best, and thanks
