Another boyhood fantasy fulfilled. I’m pretty excited.
I have composed seven remote dances from imagined islands for the Bang on a Can All-Stars ensemble, and in two and a half weeks “Dances of Remote Islands: Seven Dances I Have Never Joined and Never Will” will be premiered by the terrific world ensemble.
I got to know the musicians when I wrote music journalism from the Bang on a Can summer festival in Massachusetts in 2018. I visited them in New York during the writing of the work.
The concert will take place on Friday 6 March at 19.30 in the Royal Danish Academy of Music’s concert hall in Copenhagen. Free admission and other exciting premieres by Kirsten Milenko and Esben Nordborg Møller.
