Aarhus Symphony Orchestra plays my paraphrases of Carl Nielsen’s piano pieces

This Tuesday started out with a rehearsal with the band. For the occasion, the band consisted of strings from Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, which i.a. played my paraphrases of Carl Nielsen’s piano pieces. It was a pretty good rehearsal, we think.

For as long as I can remember, I have experienced an indescribable “home” in the music of Carl Nielsen. I cannot say whether it is the common Funen childhood, the respect for both the completely artful music and the folk song, or something Third. But the music moves me in a way that no other music does.
